In Reply to: Re: exema: I have had it for over 34 years and spent over $70,000 trying for a cure. The only thing that really stopped it cdd but for only about two weeks was steroids. But doctor would not give me more as said it had too many side effects. I've tried everythingincluding auricular therapy, many creams, pills, etc. hospitaization several times with light treatments, oatmeal baths and everything. All over the body and very bad. posted by wayne holmquist on August 23, 19101 at 18:17:09:
: : : : : : My Mom has been diagnosed with exema, and it's driving her crazy, especially the itching.
: : : : : : doctor gave her some cream and some type of spray.
: : : : : : anyone have any ideas on what to use for the itching? The stuff the doctor gave her is not working real well.
: : : : : : The rash keeps reappearing in other places on her body. Where does it come from?what is the cause.
: : : : : : thanks for the response

: : : : : She should tell the doc that the cream is not helping. there are several on the market.
: : : : : I do know benedryl helps with iching. There is a generic over the counter pill to take. It can make you sleepy! You can break it in half. But, call the doc.....see if there is another cream she can try.....sometimes if your doc has them....ask for a sample! Then you do not have to spend $ on something that does not work :)
: : : : : Good luck

: : : : Forgot.......she could have shingles. My mom had this. It is awful, and sometimes painful. Look it up on the www
my son is 3 years old & has had eczema for most of his live. i began to see symptoms when he was 2 months old. since then it has only gotten worse. it has been so bad that i wouldnt even take him outside. his allergy dr has helped a great deal, but it may never go away completely is what ive been told. his father had it as an infan, but out grew it, his pateranal grandmother still has it severly. it has been a real trial with this but we keeep going. as with you only steroids seem to work which his dr wont let him take either. same reason. he was also diagnosed with asthma last year & i was told his eczema was a direct side effect of the asthma. this may be something to think about. i wish you all the luck with this problem.
