yup Mike you were in the biz then. You came in a year or so after me and stayed way longer than I did.
However, I, unlike you, didn't stay. Not because I didnt like the biz or see it for what it is, but because I played a different role.
I came from being the national recruiter for one of the guys that left Larry (yes Virginia there is a Larry) and worked out of Atlanta for Billy doing something very similar for his offices.
Alternative marketing (which I still do, 10 years later) is still alternative marketing. I listen to complaints every day from people that just cant cut it. Toughen up or get out. Not everything is a scam and the ones that are a scam are more than workable if you just figure out how to work.
The problem is the fact that all these people think there really is a way to get rich quick and easy, as if there were a manual for it.
ROFFL (rolling in the floor fucking laughing) -- there is no such thing. All you whiners think Bill Gates just jumped up there and had billions? How bout Steve Case? or the Van Andels?? or Larry Hahn??
It's all about hard work. Those in alternative marketing work harder, yes but they also reap way greater rewards. When I was with Scentura I knew more people under 25 that were millionaires than even the internet has made. Not paper millionaires but hard cash gonna stay millionaires regardless of our stocks...
Let's not forget that the founder of Sears was a peddler... or that Henry Ford was laughed at for wanting to mass produce the automobile -- anyone that worked for him was crazy...
