Frequently Asked Questions

Question: How do I submit a poem, a joke or other information?
Answer: Please send them by e-mail as it is easier to incorporate them then.

Question: Is my poem protected and copyrighted?
Answer: When you send in a poem, when it is posted I place the words "Copyright 199x" along with your name. Your work is automatically copyrighted once you post these words on any piece of paper along with your work. You don't need to have it officially copyrighted to protect your work. Official copyright helps only in case of a challenge in a court. You can as easily have your page notarized or witnessed and dated. If you are concerned you should have your work protected in a manner that you can prove the date you copyrighted it. But, it is copyrighted when you state that on your paper. Copyright of a piece of work costs only $20 with the Library of Congress.

Question: How long does it take for my poem, joke or other input before it shows up on your website?
Answer: We try to post it, it possible, soon after we receive it. However, we are not a large organization with unlimited manpower and sometimes other matters take precedence. Then too, we have occassional computer or Internet down problems that we cannot forecast. So please be patient.

Question: You did not post my poem, how come?
Answer: Some individuals send in work that does not rhyme and we can't reasonably post them with the others. We post these to the "free verse" listing.

Question: I placed a link on my page to your site. Will you provide a reciprocal link?
Answer: It all depends. We might if the website provides the information that we believe is valuable for our focused visitors. If the site is a non-profit it is likely. If the site is a for-profit we charge a modest fee for a link or a banner. It just makes sense that a website that is intended to make a profit not be provided a free link to a content-rich site, like Seniors-site. We just don't want to be used.

Question: I sent in a question and I did not receive a response, why not?
Answer: We get a lot of e-mail where individuals need help of all kinds. We are very sympathetic and realize that help is desired. We try to answer those e-mail requests that we can. We do not have enough manpower in some specialities such as legal, medical, housing, etc., where we can cover all requests. Many times, if we can't provide an answer, we post it on one of our bulletin boards assuming the sender does not mind us doing so. If you do, please advise and we will remove it. We hope we can get other seniors with experience in some needed specialities to participate with us so we can provide even more help.
