Not Just Snowbirds!Reply to this Comment
It is not just snowbirds getting hit with the skyrocketing taxes - it is any new person buying into the Florida real estate market. We would like to resettle in Florida and spend the rest of our days here but we are not about to trade $8,000. in NJ real estate taxes for $8,000 in Fla taxes and then another $8,000 in homeowners insurance in Fla. They have to straighten a whole lot of issues out before I take the plunge in Fla. Tenn is starting to look really good!
Florida snowbirdsReply to this Comment
Tennessee is a better place than Florida for snowbirds because we, the permanent residents of Florida, have had enough of the bad driving, the constant noise of ambulances and the inane bingo parties. If your retired, stay away from our state!
SnowbirdsReply to this Comment
Yes! We have all been witness to your bad driving in Fla with broken glass, bits of metal and even windshield wipers at every U-Turn! And we have heard your ambulances day and night. Don't they just love to use those sirens. Of course we do help pay your taxes a bit when we are here and add to your tradesmen businesses. Why don't you join us in Tenn? This state is slowly evolving into millionaires - want to stay and work for them?

Wow! "we, the permanent residents of Florida...." don't know too many of them. When I read the obits every day seems to me that only 1 out of maybe 15-20 people were actually born here - all the rest moved here from somewhere else. And since this is the southern most state - Gee! I guess that would make most of the "permanent residents" snowbirds from somewhere at one time or another!!

Ignorant Redneck commentsReply to this Comment
It has always been ignorant rednecks like you who live in our state that make the world think us Southerners are backward hicks. Grow up and wake up. Other than a percentage of citrus and strawberries, Florida produces little of anything the world needs. Without tourism we would still be swamp land.

I plan to drive to Florida from New Jersey this winter.Any suggestions on best routes, good but reasonable accomodations?
Re: AccomodationsReply to this Comment
For those of you driving to Florida, you'll find a very popular RV park in North Jacksonville. I don't remember the name, but it's on the SW corner of I-295 & Lem Turner. I drive past it daily and notice it usually has 50 to 100 RV's. Another tip for cutting the cost of fuel, and increasing MPG & Power can be found on my website:
Best Regards.
Snobirds & Travel costsReply to this Comment
The previous article had talked of a new technology that enabled us to reduce the cost of fuel, while increasing MPG and Power. That technology dates back to the late 1880's and has been suppressed by the Oil powers. You'll find this outlines how this applies to all motor vehicles. That's Lessongas.info for a very detailed, yet inexpensive and simple conversion process(http://www.lessogas.info)thaat take aabout an hour.
