Amber Marie Luke
-- by William Tozzi - Copyright 1998 -- wtozzi@ix.netcom.com

In Loving Memory of my Granddaughter
AMBER MARIE LUKE
Born: August 30, 1998
Died: August 30, 1998

The angels carried you away
before you were born.
They brought you up to heaven,
early, that Sunday morn.

Your mother and father cradled you
in their arms, lovingly.
They baptized you and gave to you
the name, Amber Marie.

I never saw your little face,
your eyes, your mouth, your nose.
I heard that you were beautiful,
with wee fingers and toes.

You were carried in your tiny casket
covered with flowers, so pretty,
and buried in a small green plot
on the west side of the city.

Why you couldn't stay with us,
remains God's mystery.
Certain things, within this world,
were never meant to be.

Although you are in heaven
with angels tending you,
you'll always be within my heart
no matter what I do.
