An Angel Passed My Way
-- by Melba Williams Wallace -- Copyright 1997 -- meljoy@brightok.net

In memory of my friend and student, Matthew Elisee

An amgel recently passed my way,
But stayed only a short while.
He left behind a part of his heart
And memories that bring a smile.

This Angel touched our weary hearts
With his kind and gentle nature.
He rushed to meet the world head on;
life to him was a great adventure.

Now that adventurous spirit has vanished,
And treasured images are all that remain
Of one who has held so dear to our hearts,
So unbearable is this constant pain.

I know there will be empty tomorrows;
We'll have to face each coming day.
But love has graciously prepared us;
An Angel recently passed my way.
