Our Anniversary

I'm planning a party on our anniversary,
Of course you know there'll only be me.
I'll bathe and shave and dress up right,
And plan to stay up most the night.
I'll cool some Fitzer's wine,
And fix a table for me to dine.
I'll buy a rose and pick some weeds,
The one's you like with all those seeds.
I'll put out your picture so you can see,
All our kiddy cats and the likes of me.
I'll call the girls, tell them I'm OK,
And that I don't mind celebrating this way.
I'll put out candles, turn the lights down low,
And pretend I can see you by the candle glow.
I'll play Moon River but not too loud,
As I don't want to draw a crowd.
I don't want others to know I'm alone,
On our anniversary that you did postpone.
I'll get me a present just meant for me,
And pretend it just came from thee.
I'll toast to you promises I'd keep,
As my love for you runs very deep.
I'll whisper sweet words so you will know,
I treasure our union and that I love you so.
When I really start getting blue,
I'll play "our" song and think about you.
It will make me sad and I'll shed a tear,
But I love our song: 'Wish You Were Here."
I'd send you rubies and diamond rings,
But I can't afford all of those things.
I can only send a poem or two,
To let you know how I love you.
