A Rose
-- by William G. Lyon -- Copyright 1997 -- lyon0013@inquo.net

There was a Rose, that bloomed there in our Yard,
And to find anything prittier would be hard.
With it's Petals soft and so pretty and Red,
It bloomed there so bright in my Flower bed.

It's smell was Unique, for the Fragrance it had,
Yes, the Bush was given to Mother by my Dad.
Where he planted it right in the corner of the Garden,
Then watched over it daily, just like a Warden.

For in it's corner, it was just like it was in Jail,
I pray now that it's Fragrance shall not fail.
So just give it time, for the Petals to open up,
It shall be much Prettier than a lowly Buttercup.
