Autumn Tranquility
-- by Janet Wheeler - Copyright 1997 -- ronl@planetlink.net

In the brisk October weather
I love to walk down the street,
It is seldom ever
that someone else I meet.

Autumn leaves are swirling gently
rustling on the sidewalk as they go by,
In beautiful colors so vibrant
their beauty makes me sigh---

Spicy pumpkin orange,
candy apple red so bold,
Cinnamon and nutmeg brown
and rich butternut gold.

Reminds me of lucious warm pumpkin pie
with the wonderful aroma filling the air,
In my vision I'd like to sneak a slice
but I really wouldn't dare!

In the evenings at dusk
is when I like to take my walk,
I enjoy my peaceful quiet time
that's when to God I like to talk.

The streetlights suddenly come on
and remind me of a song of yesteryear,
It's about the old lamplighter of long, long ago
and these memories are so dear.

There are millions of stars
way up high in the sky,
There's no way to count them
so I don't even try.

It's God's way of showing me
that He is the Light,
And will illuminate my pathway
in the darkness of night.

God is the artist
of earth, sea and sky,
He did a magnificent job
and He didn't even have to try!
