A Visit From Father
-- by Dean FH Macy - Copyright 1995 -- deanmacy@monad.net

On silver wings he flew
Back from my past
Into my life again.

As hours, days raced by
Forgotten times,
Stirred by comments from his past,
Warmed my soul,
And I returned to youthful joys,
I'd thought, forgotten.

He remembered me in childhood days
Through eyes I'd never seen before.
And doors, I closed behind,
Opened to reveal
New memories of him
From other times.

We laughed, we played
Remembering the sunshine days,
Trading memory
For memory.
These precious moments
I've tucked into my heart.

Oh, how I ache to see him go;
Wondering if time permits
Another future for he and I.
I missed him so
But knew it not
Until we shared this moment.
And now...

On silver wings he flew
Back to my past
Out of my life again.
