A hole Bagel
-- by Marvin Simon - Copyright 2000 -- marban@gate.net

You can have your bagel, I'll take a bialy.
Bread with a whole, to me is a folly.
If I pay for a roll,
Why accept bread with a hole.

What happened to the hole,
That's missing from the bread?
I paid for a roll,
And got a hole instead.

Next time I go to the bakery,
To buy some bread for my family,
I think I'll let the rolls go by
And buy a nice Jewish rye.

What's better than corned
Beef on pumpernickel
With a nice big
Garlic, sour pickle.

Why pay for a bagel?
Instead have a roll.
At least you're not paying
For nothing but a hole.
