Boxing
-- by Mickey Hurt - Copyright 1998 -- mickhurt@wcc.net

I was watching boxing the other night
I do enjoy a good, clean fight

To the center ring the boxers came
After the announcer called their name

They touched gloves upon instruction
And then set about the other's destruction

They were classed as light weights, so they were fast
They had lots of energy, to the very last

They punched and jabbed and upper cut
Left hand, right hand, ooh, a head but

Three hits landed below the belt
I'm sure "not good" was what he felt

I guess the "hittee" was pretty hot
'Cause a bloody nose the hitter got

A point was taken from his score
And he promised the Ref there would be no more

Then the bell, the corner, the water in mouth
And a trainer warned him about hitting south

Fists were flying as tempers mount
Oops, he's down, he's up, a standing eight count

The bell saved them both, from time to time
But, the towel was thrown in after round nine

the champ was gracious, we was genuine
To the loser he spoke, his words were kind

Then he said he was tired and glad it was over
Next, home to his wife, his kid and his dog, Rover.
