The Bridge
-- by Herbert T. Moore- Copyright 1995 -- sent in by L.B. Strawn - l.b.strawn@juno.com

Conversation is an erector set
That will build a bridge or wall;
A bridge from you to others,
Or, a barrier, fierce and tall.

And your words are building blocks
That erect those things for you,
So, let your words build bridges
And, respect what words can do.

A bridge brings two together.
A wall keeps them apart.
So, quickly hear--and slowly speak,
And let the words come from your heart.

Then, as those words build bridges,
May you choose each word with care.
Then, you'll draw others to you---
Your bridge will bring them there.
