Candle Candle
-- by Ellen Fair - Copyright 1999 -- fairelle@gte.net

Tall and slender
not yet 25
'handsome,' I said
'as a knight in shining armor.'
None could compare to you
Though winds still blow
the width of this peninsular
they do not bring one
to compare.
Light the candle
let me look upon you again
Give me your arm,
walk with me again
through the garden
where, long ago, we
exchanged our first
words of
love
