Country Church
-- by Vance Oliphant - Copyright 1999 -- vanlorol@webtv.net

Just down the road....around he bend,
Stands a country church that neighbors faithfully attend.

It has seen better days, but stands staunch and strong;
This haven of worship for those who belong.

To this pace where feelings of fellow- ship abound,
Church going folks come from miles around,

They have been friends and neighbors for many years,
And for each other's loved ones, they have all shed tears.

There's a cemetery nearby with markers old,
Every one of them, has a story untold.

The stones lie silent... they have nothing to say;
They just listen politely when people kneel to pray.

Happy times, however, have been the rule;
Such weddings and events for kids in school.

Pot luck suppers and Bingo games;
Raffle tickets and drawings of names.

That old church and happiness make a perfect blend,
Just down the road......around the bend.

THERE WILL NOT BE MORE TIME TOMORROW !!!!!!
