Coming of Age
-- by Alice M. Antlsperger -- Copyright 1996 -- allisa@ix.netcom.com

I wrote this poem for our granddaughter when she turned 21 this past August. She liked it and I thought maybe others would too.

The bridge from childhood to adult,
Must have seemed quite long indeed.
But to us it appears you've crossed it
With extraordinary speed.

We remember a beautiful baby,
Then a little girl full of fun,
And now you're a stunning young woman
Who has just turned twenty-one.

You'll encounter many more bridges,
As you travel the road of life.
We hope they'll all be as easy to cross
As the one you just left behind.

Although we don't see you too often, now,
You're in our prayers every day,
When we as God's angels to protect
And guide you along your way.
