Confessions of a Reformed Retiree
-- by Dominic Martia - Copyright 1999 -- dfmar@webtv.net

I try to hit the little ball
Into the itsy-bitsy cup.
I send my check to Senior Times
To keep my subscription up.

I cut coupons that give discounts,
Visit Florida when it's cold,
Use words like "senior" and 'mature."
God forbid I should say "old."

I meet associates every week
Around a horse shoe pit,
Where we hurl shoes against the stake
To see who's best at ringing it.

I faithfully review the news
Especially the closing Dow.
Can I afford to live next month
In the style I'm living now?

With hobbies, crafts, trips and games
I fill the slowly passing days.
And in my dreams, I see myself
Back doing work that pays.
