Czechmate
-- by John T. Baker - Copyright 2000 -- JTB8817@aol.com

A big commotion at the zoo
Begot a fearful fate -
A grizzly bear escaped his cage
Together with his mate.

They seized two foreign visitors,
No one dared intervene,
Spectators screamed, police arrived
And cordoned off the scene.

The cops explored the premises
And hunted round and round;
The bears were captured but their prey
Was nowhere to be found.

Eventually the Chief showed up
In uniform resplendent;
"Where are those foreign visitors?"
He asked the zoo attendant.

"Them bears done did away with them!"
The keeper gave a wail;
"Don't know about the Frenchman but
The Czech is in the male."
