The Dance
-- by Glad Schwesinger -- Copyright 1997 -- Pglad@cnw.com

A young couple came to the saturday night dance. Beginner dancers but eager to learn. They did very well and soon were a pleasure to watch as they went round the floor. Hope this poem will explain some of this fine human emotion.

Such a grand thing to see, a boy and a girl
As they dance together, step glide and whirl
With musical beat so fast, or a rhythm slow
Each with graceful step, in unison they go

A sparkle in the eye, a look of love serene
As his eye is on her and she looks up at him
All the world is in time, trouble slips away
Dance has magic that makes the world so gay

Courtship can start with a dance of just two
Around the floor they go, fancy steps they do
Love will grow as they dance across the floor
This is not just a dance, this is so much more

Among all gods creatures I see no other pair
Who will equal the grand show that I see here
The grace, the beauty and the step in rhythm
As they dance togther, joy of life is with them
