Rich Into Eternity
-- by Bonnie J. Duckworth Copyright 1998 -- bonniej@gte.net

My soul cried out as life’s raging storms engulfed me,
pulling me toward the abyss of destruction.
As I struggled through the murky depths,
about to sink, I felt the breath of life encompass me.

Slowly I drifted upon the tides of life,
floating upon the buoys of hope.
My soul longed for an anchor of rest to
rock me gently in the cradle of life’s waves.

Emotional tumult dissolved into tears as the storm abated.
No longer adrift, I found myself upon the shore.
Staggering footprints in the wet sand revealed my search,
for living water. Through the mist, a glowing form appeared.

Faint and trembling, I reached out for help. No longer thirsty,
a surge of power and ecstasy fill my being as our hands clasped.
Weeping, I fell down at His feet as I felt the scar in His palm.
Tenderly, Jesus lifted me up to heights that reach into eternity.
