Every Beautiful Day
-- by L.B. Strawn - Copyright 1965 -- l.b.strawn@juno.com

Every day is a beautiful one
Be there clouds or bright, clear sun.
Life itself gives the beauty to it,
Whether we run, or can only sit.

Whether we walk in the shade so cool
Or work in the blistering sun with a tool;
Lie on a couch of comfort and ease,
Trudge through the snow till we nearly freeze.

Or, bend until our back nearly breaks,
Work so hard every muscle aches;
Or sit a while and enjoy the view
As our body rests in the early dew.

If the day is rainy or cold with snow,
These are all blessings, this we know,
And all of God's blessings help sustain
And nourish our bodies while we remain.

If we hadn't these blessings, and others as well,
We wouldn't appreciate, nor would our hearts swell
In the wonderful knowledge that God, in heaven,
Has, to lowly man, these great gifts given.

To breathe the air that is given to each
Is a true blessing far out of our reach.
Only He can give such wonderful gifts
Which lends great joy and man's spirit lifts.

All we can do is show love and express
Our heartfelt thanks for our food and our dress,
Our homes and loved ones, our health and strength,
To whatever measure, to whatever length.
