Just down the road.....around the bend,
The barn roof leaks badly; the windows
are gone;
There were cows to milk and horses to
feed,
The corn crib looks shabby and the bins
won't hold grain;
The remaining out buildings are in
disrepair,
The porch railing is broken; front door's
open wide,
The party line telephone no longer hangs
on the wall,
Weeds grow high in the yard and some
trees are dead;
The farms were once smaller and most
wouldn't survive.
Those abandoned farmsteads have
become a trend,
