The Forecaster
-- by Don Mulford - Copyright 2000 -- steldon@nbnet.nb.ca

Each day the weather man pretends to tell us what's to come!
He talks about the temperatures; the max and minimum!
He tells us if it's going to snow, or if we'll get some rain;
He'll tell us if the wind will blow, a gale or hurricane.

But all too often he'll be wrong, he seldom gets it right;
It seems that weather patterns change so quickly overnight!
So how can we expect to know what garments we should wear,
Not knowing if tomorrow's skies will turn out grey or fair?

The meteorologist we're told, took years to learn his trade,
But much of what he leaned at school is useless, I'm afraid!
He learned at university of isobars and such
But all the facts that he absorbed don't seem to help us much!

Although he gets his figures from the best barometers,
And he can tell the wind speed with his anemometers,
No matter what he tells us we can't quite believe it's true,
So we won't plan too far ahead in anything we do.

Each morning we'll look out to see if skies are sunshine bright,
For though the forecast promised sun, we doubt it will be right,
So just to be prepared for weather changes through the day,
We'll take a big umbrella and a raincoat anyway!
