The Gardener
-- by Don Mulford - Copyright 1999 -- steldon@nbnet.nb.ca

My neighbor’s lawn was bright, bright green
But mine was merely "might-have-been",
Pathetic sprouts that strove to live
In any space the weeds would give!

I sowed my seed when he sowed his,
And I’m sure he’s no gardening whiz,
But his grass grows--- luxuriant,
And I have weeds--- inelegant!

I asked the experts what to do.
They said, "The answer’s here for you!
Just treat you lawn with ‘Weed and Feed’.
You’ll find it just the thing you need!"

So, reassured I bought the stuff
And made quite sure I had enough,
Then home I went, did what they said,
Now both my weeds and grass are dead!
