Truly Grand -- by L. B. Strawn - Copyright 1998 -- Poetman99@aol.com
I am a senior, 73 years of age. Also, I am a poet. Not just any poet, but a
poet who writes easy to read, easy to understand poetry. Many are sentimental,
some are comical, some sre about seniors, aging, grandparents, etc. I have seventeen books available, for senior centers, guest homes, etc. Here is a sample of my type of poetry:
It is truly grand to be a grandparent;
With pride our inward selves are elated.
The veneer covering our pride is very transparent
Because, to that little one we're grandly related.
We want all our friends to know of that grandchild;
We notify them as quickly as we can.
Within our breast our heartbeat is wild
Thinking of that wee little lady or wee little man.
As we think back to our own little ones,
Over their births we were just as ecstatic.
Whether daughters or whether sons
Our pride was justifiably emphatic.
But, there's one advantage to this parenthood,
The best that could ever be had---
If they kick up a fuss and aren't really good
We just hand them back to mother or dad!!!
