Mother Hold Me
-- by Ellen Fair - Copyright 1998 -- fairelle@gte.net

Hold me, Mother, absorb my heart
Mend the heartaches ere they start
Feel emotions, feel my pain
Mother, dry my tears again

Always toward the dusk of day
You would shoo my friends away
You would beckon to come come
It was time to be alone

Sitting near the old fish pond
We would watch the evening sun
We'd watch the horses run and play
As evening's sunset claimed the day

Mother, can you hear my prayer?
Can you see your child from there?
Mother, hear me, feel my pain
Please dry away my tears again
