Idealism
-- by Don Mulford - Copyright 1999 -- steldon@nbnet.nb.ca

I tossed and turned the other night,
And sleepless, waited for the light,
While reveries sped through my brain!
Could we but live our lives again!

Could we design a better way
To spend our time - to fill our day?
Could we improve upon our fate,
Or is truly, much too late?
What should we change about the past?
And if we changed it, would it last?

Utopia must be our goal!
We all must play a leading role
In shaping and improving life,
Assuaging hunger, easing strife!
Then if we can improve OUR land
Perhaps the rest will understand,
And try to do the same in theirs,
To build Utopia for their heirs!

------------------------------

Whilst writing this I've come to find,
Utopia's a state of mind!
It's not the country where we live,
It's what we offer, what we give!
And if we give the most we can
Utopia soon will come to man.
