If I could be you and you could be me,
Would we see the person we would like to be?

If I could be you and you could be me,
What kind of person would each of us see?

Would we see someone who is gentle and kind;
And is also tolerant, with an open mind?

Would we see someone who is decent and caring;
Who is also moral, unselfish and sharing?

Would we see someone who is patient and just;
Is willing to listen; someone we can trust?

Would we see someone who is unbiased and fair;
Who has a friendly shoulder to share?

Would we see someone who is tactful, supportive and nice;
Who thinks that only truth will suffice?

Would we see someone who is thoughtful and real;
Also warm hearted, with love we can feel?

Would we see someone who is free of lust,
To whom respectability is a must?

These are are just some of the things we would like to see;
If I could be you and you could be me.

I'm sure we could learn a thing or two,
If you could be me and I could be you.
