Please Don't Treat Me Like I'm Old
-- by Dorothy Costello -- Copyright 1994 -- DOT.COS@postoffice.worldnet.att.net

Please don't treat me like I'm old,
Or I'll soon act the part
You're aging just as fast as I
But, I just got a big head start.

With my glasses, I can see
With my dentures, I can chew
And with my cane, I can still
Walk circles around you.

If I'm wearing hearing aids,
I can hear o k.
With the help of Aspercream,
I'll make it through the day.

With a pacer in my chest
My heart beats every day
And it will just keep going
For a long, long time, I pray.

If I can't remember
Where I left my pen
Doesn't mean that I am old,
We all forget things, now and then.

So show a little courtesy
I haven't lost my brain,
So, if I choose not to use it,
Don't treat me with disdain.
