A Friend Indeed
-- by Melba Williams Wallace - Copyright 1999 -- meljoy@brightok.net

I sometimes go to visit a friend
Who lives just up the way.
Although I don't see her as often as I should,
She's in my thoughts each day.

She always greets me with a smile
As she opens wide her door;
The peace and quietness of her home
Have a quality you can't ignore.

I know I can never forget
The kindness to me she has shown,
I hope because of her fine qualities
My own self-respect will have grown.
