In-Sight
-- by R. Wayne Porter -- Copyright 1996 -- rebel1@jps.net

These eyes have seen so many things
thru the passing years
So many things to make them laugh
or bring the falling tears.

For many years these eyes shone bright
with dreams of my tomorrow
Though just a few of those came true
my eyes reflect no sorrow.

So many things they've seen occur
from visits to the moon
To computer chats across the world
they've seen mans' progress bloom.

Yet they used to see so clearly
between what's right or wrong
And not turn red from listening
to lyrics of a song.

Oh yes they've seen our freedoms
defined and then doled out
Free speech back then was meant for talk
now all it means is shout.

These eyes have seen the start of birth
and watched the children grow
Will their eyes watch life and marvel too
or behold foul crops we sow.

And now these eyes are growing dim
I guess that it's a blessing
They can't see what will happen next
"Hope it's good". But then I'm guessing.
