Fallen Lashes
-- by Donnelly Fenn Copyright 1998 -- futurefocus@snowcrest.net

Eyelids close
with
Painless softness,
in
Willful, helpless ways,

Shutting one world
to the
Glare of another.

Fallen shut,
They hide a truth
Which pales
In the inner light of memory,
Of thought,
Of the place
Where no eyes
Can see,
but
Me.
