Laugh At Yourself

You must be able to laugh at yourself
Or you will weep alone.
That adage came to me early in life,
Although it's not written in stone.
You may be bald or---perhaps left handed,
People may say things that will hurt.
Instead of pouting and pulling within
Just learn to laugh and be an extrovert.
You may be ugly or shy, like me;
You may be skinny or you may be fat.
Fretting and fuming won't change a thing;
You shouldn't worry about that.
Look around and see who you are
And not what you think yourself to be.
No one is perfect, you can bank on that,
But perhaps it will help you to see,
That you can over come those jibes
And that should be plain as can be.
The best defense is a good offense,
So practice to "go them one better".
No, don't let them "get under your skin"
Or shackle you with a fetter.
If they make a pun about your looks,
Be prepared to give one back.
Being able to joke about your own problem
Will make them feel like they sat on a tack.
So---what do you think?, that maybe I'm right?
Give it a try and I'm sure you'll agree.
I truly speak from much experience
For that's what happened to me!!!!.
