Leaving Home
-- by Bernard Gluck - Copyright 1999 -- bgluck@earthlink.net

. I'm sorry Dad, I gotta go.
Can't live here any longer.
I'm thirty-two and as you know
Economy is stronger.

At work there at Macdonald's now
It seems I'm moving higher.
They talk about promotion and
No longer mention fire.

I know you need me here a lot
To cut the grass and such
And bring the Sunday paper in.
I didn't mind that much.

I met this girl the other day
She said I need a place.
I'm kinda old to live at home
It's time I joined the race.

I leave you all my baseball cards,
My baseball and my glove.
I'm sick of sleeping with the dog;
I need someone to love.

Now, quit that dirty look you gave !
That wasn't very nice !
You thought I wasn't looking but
I'm sure I saw it twice.

It's not as if you're left alone.
You know you still have Mom,
And though you haven't talked in years
I'm sure you like her some.

Well.......Ahaaa.....gotta go."
