Making A Living Legacy -- by Shelby Forrest - Copyright 1999 -- sforrest@earthlink.net
The old man looked through eyes now dimmed with tears
"My legacy, what will it speak for me?
My life span shrinks with each ensuing year
When I am gone, will I remembered be?"
He told himself to seek what lies ahead.
Face forward now, and do not look behind.
There is so much I feel that can be said.
I must remember,"seek and ye shall find."
Stop thinking of the past, dwell not on you
Reach out to touch a stranger with a smile,
There's so much good that's left for you to do
To help make others feel their lives worthwhile
And then a smile lit up his wrinkled face.
"There's purpose yet; there's still for me a place."
