-- by Dean FH Macy -- Copyright 1967 -- deanmacy@top.monad.net

The silent, flowing river winds
Through forests of the land,
Majestic mountains, hallowed plains,
In form the Mighty planned.

My ship sails up this wonderous stream
And has, for many years,
Found pathways through the perils great
With courage, hopes, and tears.

As captain I know dangers there
Where ships, their fate have cast;
Where rocks and whirlpools lie in wait:
I know of what is past.

But fog lies deep before my bow
And though the charts I comb,
I cannot find the path that leads
Me safely to my home.

Only God in heaven can view
The river's start and end,
So I must trust His guiding hand
To lead me 'round the bend.

One day the fog ahead will lift
And sun will light the lea.
It's then I'll find that waiting pier,
The one he built for me.
