Sweet Lure of Spring

Abandon not with care or expectations
all necessary chore’s of daily due
and spend a day or two in living
with a spectrum of a different view...
There's future fields of heather
of Queen Ann’s Lace and more,
Myrtle’s mass of purple flowers
shielding butterflies in store.
Awakened earth from winter’s cold
thawed roots of crocus blooming,
no longer hidden from the sky
past days of winter’s glooming.
Enduring robins back once more
from journeys to the sun,
all harbingers that herald spring
when weary winter’s done.
Sweet new air of fresh wet soil
kissed by April’s rain,
dogwoods bloom midst elm and oak
will be Summer’s gain.
While mass of crocus carpeting
on lawn of winter’s past,
Daffodils and sprigs of mint
now in sun do bask.
Shag Bark Hickory leaves are budding
bright Columbine is blooming,
Violet’s mass of color reigns;
as ever unassuming.
Spend idle days rejoicing
In a spectrum drawn by spring-
color cheerless hours
midst enchantment that it brings.
For soothing soul’s encumbered hearts
midst toils of all life’s strife,
sweet lure of Spring I welcome you
For rejuvenating life.
