There Was A Man
-- by Gerald Bosacher Copyright 1996 -- sent in by DrWryme@aol.com

They called him mad,. His worth denied,
we built around him cell.

We barred the door, and yet he tried
to join us in our hell.

While men of God preached love thyself,
which they alone could tell,
from bibles dusty on the shelf,
immune from care, aloof they dwell.

They locked him in for they are wise
and love could lead their church astray.

Far better he that pains and cries
than you or me and never they!
