A Moment Not Forgotten
-- by Kimberly Smith Copyright 1998 --
There was a young lady,
Who was not the daring type.
Infact, her name was Katy,
Who actually slept on Friday nights.
She wasn't very popular,
As you could probably see;
She was never found at the bar,
I guess she was sorta like me.
Katy was always attentive in school,
While all the others slept;
No one ever thought that she was cool,
But she knew a secret that was kept.
This secret was one,
That was all her own;
It was something that she had done,
Just not over the phone.
It happened with her boyfriend,
Yes.. that very night'
There was a message that it would send,
And Yes, that of fright.
It never crossed her mind,
What would ever happen;
They didn't know what they would find,
Just takin' a little nappin'
In the break of the morning,
She felt a little pain;
There was certainly somethin' forming,
That had some weight gain.
A couple months after,
There was a little fright'
She knew something would occur..
Right then her muscles went tight.
She was rushed to the emergency hospital,
While everyone was in shock'
As the baby lay on the table,
Almost as white as a sock.
The baby soon died,
And with no further adue'
Finally the mother sighed,
And said, "Don't let it happen to you."
And with those words of wisdom,
The machine went totally blank;
With not another word spoken,
Her whole life completely sank.
When she died,
She often said:
"Live the world safely...
You're not better off dead."
