A Mother's Love
-- by Terry Ann Braaten - Copyright 1999 -- tahoegirl@freewheeling.com

I think most everyone agrees
a Mother's love comes in degrees
as it is warmly doled.

At birth and when they start to walk,
toddle about and learn to talk,
they're a wonder to behold.

And when they act their most contrary
the temperature will sometimes vary
though never is it cold.

You strive to teach them all you can
hoping when they're woman and man
they'll heed what they've been told.

As they grow...which happens fast
you realize their childhood's past.
They've broken from the mold.

Up into the twilight years
when we've conquered most our fears
our love does not grow old.

It's always there just shining through.
I wish a Mother's love for you.
It's valued more than gold.
