Empty Nest

Hi Mary ~~~ I wish to dedicate this to Carlina

Her car was packed; she left today
Heading north up by the bay
"I'll be home soon, Mom, see you on
The Christmas break. It won't be long".

She'll be so busy making friends,
But here for me, a chapter ends.
Although I always knew this day
Would come when she'd be on her way.

It's very hard to let her go,
It really hurts, I'm sure you know.
I'm trying now with all my might
To free her from a hold too tight.

Most likely you have been there too,
And did what every mom must do.
Send them off and wish them well,
And wait to see what time will tell.

But with her leaving, my heart breaks
And facing it much courage takes.
Letting go I know I must
And from now on it's time to trust.
