The Name Game
-- by Melba Williams Wallace - Copyright 1999 -- meljoy@brightok.net

We used to make a game of it
As we lay in bed at night,
Seeing who could outdo the others
By repeating Mama's name just right.

The game was simple as could be.
We simply listened to Mama speak
About the name Grandpa has given her;
It seems it only happened las week.

Carrie, Viola, Etheline, Capadoodle Day,
Bobbie, Peetie Reeves Williams - wow!
We could never remember how it went,
But I can just hear Mama now.

We laughed and laughed as she told us,
Then we'd try to repeat what she said.
Not one of us could ever get it right,
But oh how it runs through my head!
