A New Deity
-- by Dr. Edwin E. Vineyard -- Copyright 1997 -- eeviney@fullnet.net

Oh! For a thousand ways to sing your praise,
Though you may bring endless days of pure malaise.
Through a misty mental haze with eyes aglaze,
We pursue the maze, all but lost in a dizzy daze,
On cyber freeways, and past electric gateways,
To striking arrays and displays which amaze.

We make forays through windows and doorways,
Up narrow gangways into the fiercest melees.
We've little time for plays and few hurrays.

We make huge outlays; and search for paydays
With great dismays, and with endless delays.
Finding that if one obeys the rules always,
Then the pathways are linked into fairways,
Problems fail to faze, and none yet waylays.

As early castaways, we have become your devotees;
The rejects and throwaways of all the yesterdays
Your merit reappraise, and cast our own bouquets.
Now we attain the glassy gaze, and join the craze.
Oh! For a thousand ways to sing your praise,
My computer!
