Old Man - Big Words
--- by Patti McGrath - Copyright 1995

I once new a old man,
Who took me by the hand.
I remember walking down the road
And looking at the land.

This land will be yours one day,
When your grandmother and I pass away.
What do you mean grandpa, when you pass away?
"Don't worry sweetie, it won't happen today.

His words were in my dream,
And I remember waking with a scream.
I saw my grandmother crying in the dark,
And I knew something had made it's mark.

The words were ringing in my head,
It won't happen today it said.
But it did, my grandpa was gone,
And someone was singing his song.

The land never looked the same,
It used to be so tame.
Now it's grown over with weeds and dirt.
I can still here the whisper of his words...This will be yours one day,
When your grandmother and I pass away.
