Pillow Talk
-- by John T. Baker - Copyright 1998 -- jtb8817@aol.com

She: You used to send me flowers;
I'd wear them in my hair,
And every Sunday afternoon
I knew that you'd be there.

He: I don't recall the flowers . . .
Perhaps some other guy . . .
You always had a gang around
Whenever I stopped by.

She: You also brought me candy,
And once a big balloon . . .
He: I won that at the county fair . . .
It popped that afternoon.

She: You'd take me to the movies;
Sometimes we'd double-date;
We'd have a soda afterward,
Afraid we'd get home late.

He: Your Dad was always waiting
Inside that old screen door;
Until I got you safely back
He'd fret and pace the floor.

He: That night we stayed out spooning
And watched the stars appear . . .
She: Shhh, whisper, honey, not so loud,
Don't let the children hear.

He: And when we vowed together
We'd never be apart . . .
She: I well remember, darling, (kiss) . . .
Both: Good night, sleep well, sweetheart.
