Inspired by Desire
-- by Teresa Peiffer - Copyright 1999 -- jamieo@rcn.com

Oh, lovely plants, you've lifted up
your pointed heads to sky
You've basked in sun so happily
and watched the heavens cry
While we beheld your silky hair
and waited patiently
We didn't check for flowers
or leaves upon a tree.
Each year we wait and wait some more
to feel like we're reborn
Joyce Kilmer, keep your lovely trees;
just give me Jersey corn
