The Present
-- by Bernard Gluck - Copyright 1999 -- bgluck@earthlink.net

One time it was my birthday
So many years ago
From Mom I got a present
I'll tell you so you'll know.

I opened up the present;
Two real expensive ties
I'll wear one to her dinner
To make a nice surprise.

Arriving at her dinner
I said, " Mom look, my TIE."
She looked so disappointed
"You hate the OTHER ? WHY ?"
