A Sailor's Last Wish
-- by Bernard Gluck Copyright 1998 -- bgluck@earthlink.net

I was paying my respects
To the widow of a friend
His fatal fall against a clock,
A very TIMELY end.

We were talking in the bathroom
When she tripped upon the rug
She was showing me his ashes
When I gave her arm a tug.

Ashes spilled into the toilet
I quickly flushed to set him free
He said he always wished to have
A burial at sea.
