A Senior's Creed
-- by John T. Baker - Copyright 1998 -- JTB8817@aol.com

We who fed on honey-dew,
Quaffed the wine of Paradise,
Ill deride what striplings do,
Best withhold unsought advice.

Growing older we forget
Faded dreams and furtive fears,
Fail to recognize the debt
Owed to adolescent years.

Youth must make its own mistakes,
Suffer wounds that freely bleed,
Learn the lessons of heartaches,
Pay the price for each misdeed..

"Stand prepared if called upon
Hasten to assist in need;
Otherwise, beware, begone!" . . .
Thus should run a Seniors' Creed.
