Sixteen
-- by Vance Oliphant - Copyright 2000 -- vanlorol@webtv.net

Oh, to be sixteen again and be as wise,
As we tried to appear in each other's eyes.

We thought we knew everything; both large and small,
And were convinced our parents knew nothing at all.

School was a drag; we had nothing to learn......
We were so smart, we had knowledge to burn.

The world was ours.....we knew it all;
Happiness came from hanging out at the mall.

Just got our license.....in order to feel alive;
Had to have the car to take our friends for a drive.

Wouldn't it be great if we could put in a bid,
To be sixteen again; knowing half as much as we thought we did?
